Background Information

Bioinformatics Experiment Using VDT

In the PASOA project, we developed and performed a bioinformatics experiment using the Virtual Data Toolkit and recording provenance using PReServ. The following pages provide information of interest about this experiment.

• This paper published at the OPODIS conference discusses the Provenance Recording Protocol that Southampton has developed. It includes a rational for the protocol and some formalisations.OPODIS Paper

• We have developed an implementation of the above protocol called Provenance Recording for Services (PReServ^?). It is based around recording the interactions between Web Services. The implementation is available at here.
